Wrapping Up The 43rd Atlantic International Film Festival

I had a lot of fun this year at the Atlantic International Film Festival which happened even though a hurricane and power outages forced the cancellation of the busiest day of Saturday. But they were able to reschedule the films and the crowds were good and people were happy.

Highlights for me were seeing Kore-Eda’s complex story Monster, the harrowing and stylistically-bold The Settlers, Alice Rohrwacher’s beautiful and poetic La Chimera, Kaurismäki’s deadpan Fallen Leaves, Wim Wenders’ meditative Perfect Days, Justine Triet’s spellbinding courtroom drama Anatomy of a Fall, Chloe Robichaud’s character study Days of Happiness, and Ariane Louise-Seize’s quirky Humanist Vampire Seeks Consenting Suicidal Person.
